Reporting and moderation

These pages are provided in several languages for clarity. In the event of any discrepancy between translations, only the French version is authoritative.

Single point of contact

For any question from a public authority, or to report content you believe to be unlawful, WAFIKO's single point of contact is the Report illegal content / Contact for authorities, available without an account, or the Contact us.

How to report content

Every animal profile, post, comment, message, alert or profile has a reporting feature available to signed-in members. A report states the content concerned and the reason. People who are not signed in can use the Report illegal content / Contact for authorities or the Contact us.

How reports are handled

Reports are reviewed by the moderation team (administrators and moderators). Depending on the outcome of this review, the reported content may be removed, and the account behind the content may be warned, suspended or deleted, without notice in an emergency (a risk to the safety of a person or an animal, manifestly unlawful content).

Informing the author and the reason for the decision

When content is removed or hidden, or an account is suspended, its author receives a notification and an email stating the content concerned, the decision made, the precise reason from a defined list (illegal content, harassment, animal abuse, scam, spam, inappropriate content, impersonation, other), the rule of these Terms of Use concerned, and the fact that it is always a human decision, never an automated one. The identity of the person who reported it is never revealed.

This reason is kept and available to the moderation team in the administration's activity log.

Appealing a decision

From the notification received, the author may appeal a moderation decision once, explaining why. The appeal is reviewed by a member of the moderation team other than the one who made the initial decision, whenever possible (otherwise, by an administrator). The final decision (upheld or overturned) is notified to the author; if overturned, the content is restored or the account reinstated.

Recycle bin and reversibility

Content removed by moderation is not deleted immediately and permanently: it is kept for 30 days in a technical recycle bin before irreversible deletion, which leaves time to correct any mistake if you contact us promptly.
