Getting started

How do I create my account?

Sign up with your e-mail from the sign-up page. A confirmation e-mail is sent to you.

How do I add my first animal?

From your profile, click "add an animal" (Add an animal). Give it a name, a species and a breed if possible.

Do I need to complete my profile before using the site?

Some pages (news feed, map, meetups) first ask you to fill in your city from your profile settings, so we know what's happening near you.

Can I change the interface language?

Yes, choose your language from the menu at the top of the page; page addresses also change depending on the language.

What do I need to accept to sign up?

You must confirm you are an adult and accept the terms of use when registering.

Animal profile

How do I add photos to my animal?

From your profile, open your animal's page to add a main photo and more photos to its gallery.

How do I mark my animal as mixed-breed?

When creating or editing its page, choose "mixed-breed" and specify up to two breeds of origin, if known.

What is the health record?

Each animal has a health record, accessible from your profile, where you can log vaccines, treatments and weight over time. You can download it as a PDF.

How do I set my animal's birthday?

Enter its date of birth (or an approximate age if you don't know it) on its page. You'll be notified on its birthday.

How does the collar QR code work?

Each animal has a personal QR code, accessible from your profile, to print and attach to its collar. If someone finds it, they can contact you by scanning it, without seeing your contact details directly.

Where do I enter my animal's character for meetups?

On its page, a "Meetup criteria" section lets you set its energy level and, for dogs, how it gets along with other animals, its play style, the leash and its reactivity. This information is used for the match shown when requesting to join a meetup.

Map and privacy

What do other members see of me on the map?

By default, an approximate position (city-level, never your exact address). You choose who can see you on the map from your privacy settings.

Can I make my account private?

Yes, by enabling a private account from your privacy settings: your posts are then only visible to the followers you've accepted.

What is a secondary location or a temporary stay?

In addition to your main city, you can add a secondary location (e.g. a holiday home) or declare a temporary stay with dates, from your locations. You choose which location is active at any given time for the map and meetups near you.

Can I hide my position during a stay?

Yes, an option lets you hide your position during your temporary stays, from your locations.

Who can send me a private message?

You choose from your privacy settings whether everyone, only your followers, or no one can send you a message request.

Meetups and walks

How do I create a meetup?

From Suggest a meetup, choose "Just once" for a one-off event or "Recurring walk" for a walk that happens regularly.

How do character criteria work for a meetup?

The organiser can set optional criteria (playmate size, energy, how it gets along with other animals, play style, leash, reactivity). Before sending a request, you see for your animal whether each criterion matches, is different, or is not set.

What is automatic acceptance?

The organiser chooses, when creating the meetup, "By approval" (they accept each request themselves) or "Automatic if criteria match" (requests whose animal matches every set criterion are accepted right away; the others go to manual approval, never automatically declined).

What happens if my request is declined?

You receive a neutral message inviting you to check out other meetups near you, never a message saying your animal was rejected. The organiser can add a short personal message to explain their choice.

How does a recurring walk work?

You join it only once, like a one-off meetup. Each occurrence must then be confirmed by the organiser to happen; until it is confirmed, it stays "To confirm".

What is the "I'm coming" button?

For an occurrence already confirmed by the organiser, participants can say they are coming that day with "I'm coming", and withdraw at any time.

What is the pinned group of a recurring walk?

The organiser can pin an existing discussion group on the walk's page, among the ones they administer, so participants can organise themselves.

How do I hide a meetup I no longer want to see?

Use "No longer show this meetup" on its page or in the list. Find everything you've hidden, and show it again if needed, from Hidden meetups.

Lost and found animals

How do I report that my animal is lost?

From Report a lost animal, choose the animal concerned (or describe it if it isn't one of yours) to create an alert visible to other members in your area.

How do I report a found animal?

From Report a found animal, describe the found animal and the location; nearby members may recognise it.

How does the QR code work for a lost animal?

If your animal wears its personal QR code and is found, the person who scans it can send you a report directly, without knowing your contact details.

How do I close an alert?

From the alert's page, mark it as resolved; you can add a message and specify who helped find the animal.

Does an alert expire?

Yes, an alert has a limited duration; you can renew it if the animal hasn't been found yet.

Forum, posts, messages, groups

How do I ask a question on the forum?

From the forum, ask your question, sorting it by topic; other members can answer it.

What is a "best answer"?

A question's author can mark one of the answers received as the best answer, which is then shown first.

How do I send someone a private message?

If their settings allow it, you can send them a message request from their profile; they must accept it before the conversation starts.

How do mentions work?

By typing @ followed by a name in a post, a question or a comment, you can mention another member, who will be notified.

How do I create or join a group?

From groups, create a group or join one according to its access rules (open, by request, etc.).

Services

How do I find a vet, a shelter or an association near me?

From services, browse nearby listings, filterable by type and distance.

A listing doesn't exist yet, what can I do?

You can suggest adding a new listing directly from the services page.

I manage a shelter or a practice that's already listed, how do I claim it?

From its page, ask to claim it; once your request is approved by the team, you'll be able to edit it yourself.

Badges

How do I earn badges?

Badges reward your activity on the site: completing your animal's profile, keeping its health record up to date, taking part in meetups, helping find a lost animal, organising meetups, and more.

Where can I see my badges?

Your profile shows the badges you've already earned and the ones left to unlock.

Do badges have levels?

Some badges unlock in several levels depending on your activity, for example meeting several different walk companions over time.

Notifications and settings

How do I manage my notifications?

From your notification settings, choose which notifications you want to receive, for example for meetups, messages or alerts — and on which channel (in the app, by email, as a push notification).

How do I turn push notifications on or off on my phone or computer?

A banner offers to enable notifications at certain moments (first animal, alert, meetup created); you can also do it any time from your notification settings, "Enable on this device" button (or "Disable on this device" if already enabled). Each device is managed separately, and you can remove a device from the list at any time.

On iPhone or iPad, why am I not getting push notifications?

On iPhone/iPad, push notifications only work if WAFIKO is installed on the home screen: share the page from Safari, then choose "Add to Home Screen". Then open WAFIKO from that icon to enable notifications.

Do recurring walks send a lot of notifications?

No: you're only notified for important events (new participant, an occurrence confirmed or cancelled, a same-day reminder only if you said "I'm coming"), never on a daily basis.

Where can I find all my settings?

From your profile settings, a menu gives access to your account, your locations, your privacy, your notifications and your hidden meetups.

Account and security

I forgot my password, what should I do?

From the login page, click "Forgot your password?" to receive a reset link by e-mail.

How do I change my e-mail address?

From your profile settings, change your e-mail; a new confirmation will be requested.

How do I delete my account?

From your profile settings, you can permanently delete your account after confirming your password.

How do I enable two-factor authentication (2FA)?

From Settings > Security, enable two-factor authentication with an authenticator app (one-time codes) and keep your recovery codes somewhere safe. Optional for any member, it is additionally mandatory for the team.

How do I download my personal data?

From your profile settings, the "Download my data" button prepares a file with your data and photos; you receive an e-mail with a download link valid for 48 hours, limited to one request every 24 hours.

Reporting content and moderation

How do I report content that breaks the rules?

Use the "Report" button present on posts, questions, answers or profiles.

How do I report illegal content?

this form, accessible even without an account, lets you report illegal content to the competent authorities.

How do I appeal a moderation decision?

If one of your content items was reported and then hidden or removed, you can appeal that decision from the notification you received or the page concerned.
